The disposal of used railroad ties has long been a thorn in the backside of would-be salvage companies and railroads. From years of troubleshooting, RTI has pioneered its own disposal techniques to resolve the unwanted railroad tie issue. One of our recent developments is the use of cogeneration facilities. Using innovative procedures we convert used railroad ties into fuel to be used at these facilities. In strict cooperation with local, state, and national laws this process presents an environmentally safe way to dispose of unwanted ties while providing an alternative to the consumption of other scarce fuel resources.
